Filip & Company assists DIGI in deal of the year in Romania and Hungary
Filip & Company Law Firm assisted DIGI in the sale of DIGI Távközlési Szolgáltató Ltd. and its subsidiaries Invitel, I TV and DIGI Infrastructure to 4iG, active in the IT and telecommunications market in Hungary. The transaction closed on Monday, November 29, with the investment valued at 625 million euros.
“DIGI is a special customer for us. We have worked together for a very long time and it has always been an example of what an entrepreneurial company can achieve with fairness, a lot of hard work, talent and a customer-oriented attitude. This deal is (by far) the biggest merger and acquisition deal of a Romanian company outside of Romania, the biggest Romanian deal this year and, as I think, the biggest deal in Hungary as well. But we owe all of this to DIGI’s efforts to build Hungary’s most advanced telecommunications network in 23 years and earn the trust of its Hungarian customers. I hope that DIGI will continue to be successful outside the country as well and that its success will inspire other Romanian entrepreneurs to have the courage to take the good things they are doing in Romania to the international level ”, noted Alexandru Bîrsan, partner and coordinator of the M&A and Capital Markets department of Filip & Company.
The Filip & Company team was coordinated by Alexandru Bîrsan (partner) and Olga Niță (partner) who were assisted by Anca Bădescu, Rebecca Marina, Andrei Konya and Andreea Dinu.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer assisted the seller in matters of English law and Szecskay provided legal assistance in matters of Hungarian law.
