ITV announces stellar team for Euro 2020
Full plans revealed for tournament coverage
ITV begins its preparation for Euro 2020 with the announcement of its stellar selection to guide viewers through the tournament and comprehensive coverage plans to bring fans the best of the action on TV, on-demand and online.
Live matches and highlights broadcast on ITV and ITV4 and simultaneously broadcast on ITV Hub will be complemented by a range of content on ITV Football and ITV Sport’s online and social media platforms to ensure where and when they are, viewers and fans can immerse themselves in everything that is happening throughout the tournament.
Led by lead presenters Mark Pougatch and Seema Jaswal, as well as Reshmin Chowdhury, ITV’s Euros team will offer a wealth of insight, expertise and opinions from a team of experts comprised of Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Patrick Vieira, Graeme Souness, Ashley Cole, Eni Aluko, Robert Earnshaw, Emma Hayes, Nigel de Jong, John Collins, Joe Ledley, Nadia Nadim, Scott Brown and Andros Townsend.
Comments will come from Sam Matterface, Clive Tyldesley, Joe Speight, Seb Hutchinson and Tom Gayle, supported by co-commentators Lee Dixon, Ally McCoist and John Hartson.
ITV will again employ a referee analyst with former elite referee Peter Walton to explain and clarify key decisions.
Gabriel Clarke, Michelle Owen and Raman Bhardwaj will report during the tournament, which is uniquely hosted in 11 cities across the continent.
ITV will exclusively broadcast 27 matches live in a busy schedule starting with a group stage which includes the two group stage matches in England in the evening – the highly anticipated clash with Scotland at Wembley in a re-match of the memorable match of Euro 1996, as well as the last group game against the Czech Republic.
The first weeks of Euro on ITV will also bring viewers the showdown between world champions France and Germany, Wales v Italy, Scotland’s final group match against Croatia, the champions of Current Europe Portugal against Germany as well as matches involving European giants Spain, Netherlands and many people’s favorites, the star-studded Belgian side.
Live coverage continues throughout the round of 16 and ITV also has the first pick for the semi-final and will show the final.
ITV will show highlights from all other matches on each match day throughout the tournament, which will also be available on ITV Hub.
ITV’s Euro 2020 coverage will be continuously available with a range of new content, analysis and functionality available online and on social media.
The Euro Daily Show will air daily on ITV Hub, the new Three Lions Raw show will provide unfiltered access to England match highlights on ITV Hub and Youtube, where plenty of Home Nations content can also be found, with interviews and additional features after the fortunes of Scotland, Wales and England.
Match clips of all ITV games will be posted on Twitter, along with news, highlights and previews on the ITV Football website each day, plus we have a new comic book commentary from host Nick Murray Wallis, who featured on ITV’s Euro 96 Relived cover. during the first lockdown of 2020.
A new series will take a unique look at classic moments from the archives – reimagining unforgettable events such as Paul Gascoigne’s miss against Germany to show what could have been.
The ITV Football Football Show podcast will see special guests chat with hosts Mark Pougatch and Andros Townsend in 12 new episodes of Euro 2020.
And there are plenty of ways for fans and viewers to get involved, including ITV.
The Euros Instagram filter and the Ultimate Euros Poll as well as the Man of the Match, Goal of the Week, Player of the Week polls on ITV Football’s Twitter feed.
ITV will be creating the buzz for the tournament starting this week, with a new trail specially produced for Euro 2020, featuring ITV specialist Ian Wright signaling the Good Times Start Here as we count the days before the kick off sending.
ITV will also build on the Euro with exclusive live coverage of England’s last two pre-tournament home games against Austria on June 2 and Romania on June 6. A range of specially curated football documentaries will also be scheduled on ITV and ITV 4 and made available on ITV Hub during preparation and throughout the tournament.
