P2P Lending Platform Reports Mintos Reaches Nearly 400,000 Registered Users
Peer-to-peer loan market Mintos revealed to have succeeded in reaching a new milestone with 400,000 users registered on the platform during this quarter.
For companies around the world, the past year has brought “three new time frames in which business results are now categorized or measured: pre-pandemic, during pandemic and the current state of the market recovery,” noted the ‘Mintos team while adding that they’ ve used these three periods to closely observe new trends in recording.
As mentionned in a P2P lender update:
“2019 has been a strong year for Mintos as the company experienced its strongest growth, welcoming an average of over 11,000 new users each month. The number of new arrivals accelerated further towards the end of 2019 and the number continued to increase in early 2020. ”
In the first quarter of 2020, Mintos hosted (on average) 16,600 users per month, the company revealed while noting that in March, the COVID-19 pandemic “changed the dynamics in global markets, including the loan investment market ”.
Due to the coronavirus crisis, growth in new listings on Mintos has fallen by about 50% from pre-COVID levels, the company has revealed. He also mentioned that from April to December 2020, “the average number of new arrivals was 8,700 per month.”
Mintos further noted that for many asset classes, 2020 was characterized by high levels of volatility, as well as unprecedented uncertainty. New trends have also been observed in the retail investment sector.
“Compared to investing in stocks or cryptocurrency, under normal market conditions, investing in Mintos loans was much less volatile. After our stable 5-year ascent, in 2020 we were faced with the effects of the pandemic. Risks materialized almost simultaneously across geographies, loan companies, borrowers and our investors. In March 2020, we adjusted our strategy, shifting from expansion and growth to the sustainability of our operations and the day-to-day management of individual cases. “
The management of the platform also mentioned:
“With the roll-out of vaccinations and the forecast for a market recovery in 2021, we have started to see growth in indicators on Mintos, including the number of new investors. Despite the crisis, 100,000 new users signed up for Mintos in less than a year. To date (May 2021), the average number of new users joining Mintos is at pre-pandemic levels, with over 11,000 signups per month. “
Mintos further revealed that it is now approaching the milestone of 500,000 registered users on its platform. In May 2021, “a volume of 6.5 billion euros was invested in loans on our marketplace, and investors’ interest income totaled 148 million euros”, confirmed the platform direction.
They also noted that based on their May 2021 data, registered users on Mintos “come from 122 countries.” They added that in 2021, they had “noticed changes in the most popular countries of investors compared to the list of the top 10 from 2020”.
Mintos also noted that most of the platform’s users are from Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic and these countries “are still top of the list in 2021”. However, this year more users from Belgium, Greece and Romania have joined Mintos, and from May 2021 they have ‘pushed’ Denmark, Poland and Portugal off the top 10 list.
“We are delighted to see that the trend of more women joining the investment continues, both globally and in our market. Women represent 17% of the total new users who joined Mintos in 2021. In 2020, 15% of Mintos’ total investor base were women. In 2021, the average age of investors who have joined us so far does not differ from the overall distribution between investor age groups. The majority of Mintos users are between the ages of 18-29, followed by the 30-40 age group. In the first 30 days after joining Mintos, investors invested an average of € 1,447, spread over 97 loans. “
